Responsibilities of the Job
The logistic engineer has numerous duties and is faced with challenges at every step of his job. Some of their responsibilities are listed below:
- Analyzing contractual commitments to vendors, customer specifications, design changes and other data relevant to the product under manufacturing process
- Planning innovative logistic techniques and developing logistic program activities throughout the life-cycle of product starting right from the conceptual level
- Monitoring the market flow and updating the company regarding the changes in the plans
- Coordinating with the production departments regarding the procurement, the inventory problems and field service personnel
- Resolving problems in logistics departments to ensure that contractual commitments are met
- Preparing brochures and information systems regarding the recent logistic achievements to provide support and strength to the logistics area of the company
- Collecting product data regarding standardization and the concept of interchangeability of parts in order to accelerate logistics proceedings
- Providing best plans for the transport of the products and raw materials from the vendors
- Performing technical studies, conducting special research and using critical management techniques to support logistic functions
- Utilizing modern computer software for analysis and real time simulation and performing documentation work for further quality audits
- Integrating the various methods to speed up production and shipping without compromising on the quality of the product
- Assisting employees to enhance performance and reach targets
- Documenting the methods and noting the changes that take during the revisions in each logistics operation
A bachelor's or a master's degree in Logistics Engineering, Industrial Engineering or any other related field of study like Warehouse Management is essential. It is also important to have a minimum experience of 5 years in functional areas like decision support systems/ technology, supply chain management in consumer products industry, logistics, transportation management, distribution and material procurement, etc.
