The Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland is one of the key sites in Shell's global portfolio. The total site has 17 million tons per annum crude oil procession capacity with up to 3.000 staff being employed on site. Next to delivering the classic Oil products, the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland is fully integrated with the Chemicals and Specialities business, producing Ethylene, Propylene, BTX, Bitumen and other specialty products. It is actively contributing to reducing Shell's Net Carbon Footprint while growing new business with projects like e.g. REFHYNE (Green Hydrogen production), Vegetable Oil co-processing and BioLNG
What is the role?
This role supervises, the Logistics Back Office team in the Rheinland Energy and Chemicals Park and reports to the Economics and Scheduling manager.
This team is responsible for the safe, efficient, reliable and cost-effective execution of specific logistics services for both Harbours and the Rail Tank Car loading in Rheinland.
This team works in daily close cooperation with various other teams like the Production Units that operate the logistic facilities, and also the financial, tax, technology (mass balancing) and scheduling teams.
Furthermore, there is daily interaction with the team in Krakow and the Trading and Supply teams in Rotterdam and Hamburg.
An important element of this role is the combination of customer focus and compliance. And we will continue to develop new ways of working under changing requirements for new sustainable, renewable products, like classic Oil products, the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland is fully integrated with the Chemicals and Specialities business, producing Ethylene, Propylene, BTX, Bitumen and other specialty products. And changing interfaces in the wider organization like for example the merger of the logistic production units.
The role is accountable for: Providing excellence in delivering Logistics services to the Harbour and Rail tank car loading in Rheinland, including getting the basics right, day in day out.
Your responsibilities include:
Supervise and manage the Logistic Backoffice team of 6 people.
Executing fit for purpose standardized Logistics back-office processes, data, systems and technology
Ensure compliance to relevant HSSE and Financial (for example tax) regulations.
Drive Continuous improvement on existing processes and practices.
Actively implement new ways of working driven by changes in regulations, products or changes in other parts of the organisation
Support investigation and follow up of all Logistics service-related incidents, accidents and near misses.
Actively pursuing best in class initiatives and participate – when/if required - in global networks and benchmarking activities related to Logistics back-office operations.
Effectively engage with internal & external staff to ensure logistic back-office activities stay aligned with Company strategy.
What we need from you?
Bachelor’s Degree in various related disciplines is possible such as: Logistics, Transportation, Integrated Supply Chain Management, Scheduling, Finance or cross business working experiences or equivalent
Has a passion for continuous improvement and create a legacy that is fit for the future
Ideally an experience with Logistics or financial processes, leading (project) teams or continuous improvement
Fluency with German and English language
